Thesis by Publication

A higher degree research thesis embodies the results of original research and investigations by a candidate.

Macquarie University allows for higher degrees by research to be earned in the conventional ‘big book’ format or as a thesis by publication. The university encourages thesis by publication.

In June 2008, The Higher Degree Research Council (HDRC) approved a set of guidelines to assist Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates in the preparation of a thesis including published or co-published material prepared during candidature.

In April 2012, MGSM approved a guideline specific to MGSM candidates, structured along the same lines as the University’s guidelines.

Please take the time to read the MGSM Thesis by Publication Guideline.
